An all-star cast was assembled to feature in the crime drama American Hustle
American Hustle (2013)
Christian Bale plays a conman forced to cooperate with the FBI during the ‘70s to bring down a ring of power brokers and the Mafia. It’s an epic film, but, as we’ve already seen, someone wasn’t too hot on the props used in the movie.
Back in the ‘70s, mobile phones were not a thing, so if someone answered your call you knew where they were. Bradley Cooper’s character calls his boss several times asking where he is, but he should know exactly where he is because he answered the phone. He’s hardly going to be out and about with his landline phone now is he?
The Big Short (2015)
The Big Short is a 2015 film set in 2006 through to 2007, as an investor bets against the housing market. During the film, the characters learn just how corrupt and flawed the housing market really is. Stars such as Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Steve Carrell all star in this Oscar-winning film, but it looks like not everyone was paying close attention.
Despite being set largely in 2006, there are a number of things that hadn’t been invented yet in the movie. Steve Carell’s character wears a Rolex from 2010, there is a 2009 Audi, and a shot of the Bank of America headquarters in New York which wasn’t built until 2008. Whoever included all of these things in the movie needed to have done their homework.
The )
In 2015 audiences were treated to Matt Damon getting stranded on on’s character is conducting a test and he is left by his crew, who presumed he didn’t survive. He is left to fend for himself, leading to him trying to grow vegetables and survive with the few supplies that are left on the planet.
We see the characters wander about Mars pretty much like you would expect them to on Earth. The problem is the gravity on Mars is about 40% of what it is on Earth, so the characters should have been walking with a noticeable bounce. We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: If you’re going to make a sci-fi film, get the science right!
Steve Jobs (2015)
Steve Jobs was the famed designer behind many of Apple’s products, and in 2015 a biopic was made about his life, starring Michael Fassbender. The film’s two stars, Fassbender and Kate Winslet were both nominated for first site Oscars due to their performances. It was a gripping movie that showed a real insight into the Apple co-founder’s life.
One moment in Apple’s history the film covers is the moment the iMac was launched and changed the company’s fortunes forever. During that launch we see Fassbender wearing Jobs’ famed turtleneck. You’d think this makes sense, as it seemed as though he was always wearing that black turtleneck. However, in that particular presentation back in 1998 he was wearing a suit.
Get Out (2017)
2017 horror mystery Get Out won a lot of praise for the sheer tension it manages to make us all feel. We all squirm in our seats as Daniel Kaluuya’s character Chris begins to understand what’s happening to him. It’s a warped film that fills you with anxiety, expertly written and directed by Jordan Peele.
The tension was even getting to the actors as Chris calls out to Rose asking for the keys, but he accidentally calls her Al. Allison Williams is the actress who plays Rose. The mistake didn’t hinder the film too much, and it won Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars. However, you’d think they may have noticed an actor calling a character by the wrong name!
